President Jonathan Mourns Femi Robinson, “The Village Headmaster”
mourn the death of veteran act, Femi Robinson
popularly known as the Village headmaster who
died at 75. The president also extended his
condolences to the Robinson's family through a
statement issued by his Special adviser on Media

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan extends
heartfelt condolences to the family of the
veteran actor and broadcaster, Mr. Femi
Robinson who has passed away at the age of 75.
The President equally commiserates with all
members of the creative and broadcast industry
in Nigeria on the death of the popular actor.
President Jonathan believes that Mr. Robinson,
who was especially loved and admired by the
public for his edifying role in the famous
Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) series, "The
Village Headmaster", will be long remembered
for his great inventiveness, professionalism and
humility.
The President urges members of his family and
all who mourn Femi Robinson to honour his
memory by constantly upholding the values of
inter-ethnic harmony, education, civility and
proficiency, which he passionately promoted
through successful careers as an actor and
broadcaster.

Veteran Nigerian Actor Passes On
known as the Village Headmaster, for the role he
played in the television series by the Nigerian
Television Authority (NTA) by that title, died on
Wednesday aged 75.
His death was made public by his two sons Seun
and Wole Robinson, on his Facebook page in a
message that read:
"This is to notify you that we lost our father,
Femi Robinson this morning – Seun & Wole
Robinson (sons)."Although the cause of his death
was yet to be ascertained, reports said he
probably died due to old age related issues. May
his soul rest in perfect peace.

Amaechi Got N257bn From Excess Crude Account In 2013 – Okonjo Iweala
coordinating minister of the economy, says
Rotimi Amaechi, governor of Rivers state,
received a total of N N257.6 billion from the
federation account between January and
October 2013.
Okonjo-Iweala said the governors' forum had no
basis asking her to account for $20 billion from
the excess crude account (ECA) because details
of the ECA are published every month.
She added that the ECA is discussed at every
monthly session of the federal accounts
allocation committee (FAAC), where all the state
commissioners of finance are usually present.
"Rivers received N257.6 billion from the
Federation Account between January and
October 2013," she said in a statement issued by
Paul Nwabuikwu, her spokesman, in Abuja on
Tuesday.
"The statement by the governors is totally
strange because Federal Accounts Allocation
Committee (FAAC), meets every month and the
ECA is discussed at every session with all the
state commissioners of finance present.
"Nothing is hidden. At these meetings, the
Minister of State, who is the Chairman of FAAC,
announces the balance in the ECA which is then
discussed."
The minister directed governors who need
further explanation on the account to consult
their commissioners. Okonjo-Iweala added that
Amaechi, who read the communiqué of the
governors early on Tuesday, made
unsubstantiated claims that N5 billion was
missing in 2013.
"Governors who want any information about the
ECA should ask for details from their
commissioners who should have the records of
what was discussed and agreed upon.
"Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, who was
reported to have read the communique on
behalf of the governors, made a similar
unsubstantiated allegation in November 2013.
"He alleged in November 2013 that $5 billion
was missing from the ECA but we subsequently
showed with facts that the amount was not
missing."

Police Arrest 14 JSS Students Suspected To Be Cultists
arrested 14 Junior Secondary School students
over their alleged involvement in cult-related
activities in Benin, the state capital.
Punch reports that the students, aged between
12 and 15, were nabbed when a crack team of
policemen stormed Oguola Secondary School at
Saint Saviour in Ikpoba Okha Local Government
Area of the state recently.
According to a source in the school, eight of the
suspects were apprehended at flash spots within
the school compound.
Their arrest prompted the police to conduct a
search on some students in the classrooms,
where items believed to be emblems of
notorious cult groups were recovered from
them.
It was also learnt that reports made against the
students by some parents may have been
responsible for the arrest.
However, the Principal of school has appealed to
the police command to release those found to
be innocent at the end of their investigations.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations
Officer, DSP Stephen Onwochei, on the arrest
were unsuccessful.
It was, learnt that 14 suspects were undergoing
questioning at the State Criminal Investigation
Department, Benin.
