Markus Persson, the Swedish creator of Minecraft,
has bought the most expensive house in Beverly Hills,
California — the same mansion Jay Z and Beyoncé made a bid on. Not even Beyoncé could make him
bow out of the deal. The 35-year-old Minecraft maven, who sold his
company to Microsoft for $2.5 billion this fall,
purchased the house for $70 million, $15 million
lower than its old listing price. According to TMZ, Jay and Bey were eyeing the house as well.
John Aaroe Group, the real estate company that made the sale, said the home included cases of Dom
Perignon, two dozen Roberto Cavalli place settings at
$3,700 each, a replica of James Dean's motorcycle,
and — my favorite part — a room full of candy.
